we hebben elkaar een aantal keren in de concertzalen, zij het redelijk anoniem naar elkaar toe, ontmoet. Ik ben steeds weer zwaar onder de indruk geweest van jou als persoon (daar op het podium), je muzikaliteit en de uiting daarvan. ook heb diverse malen interviews met je gehoord. Kort samengevat: je bent een bijzonder mens. Ik vind het daarom zo vervelend te moeten lezen en horen dat je overwerkt (of welke term ze daar ook voor gebruiken) bent. Ik wens je van deze plaats een spoedig herstel toe en als ik je een advies mag geven (ervaringsdeskundige) neem je tijd en luister vooral heel erg goed naar je gevoel! Ik kan me voorstellen dat je verplichtingen hebt jegens platenmaatschappijen en impressarios maar er is maar 1 iemand belangrijk en dat ben jezelf! En daarbij komt volgens mij nog dat je muziekale diepgang groter is als je weer helemaal vrij bent dan wanneer je te vroeg begonnen bent en nog dingen moet opruimen. I am 14 yr old violinist getting ready to audition for sphinx org. and one audition peice is Mozart's 5th violin concerto. I only have 3 more months to learn it. i was geting very doubtful I'd Make it and starting losing hope. I even wanted to quit violin all together after my 6 year journey! But now after watching you on youtube perform that same peice im at a loss for words and giving up has disolved out of my memory. Your true raw talent inspires me as a young musician to just go go go.and thats what i plan to do. You have inspired me greatly; I could not find the words to sufficiently express my feelings while listening to your playing. Your rendition of Vaughan's "The Lark Ascending" is truly beyond marvelous. I would like to thank you for adding so much color to my music life. Although it's rather sad that I could not continue with my violin undertaking due to personal circumstances, I do find absolute comfort and completeness through your music. I felt rather disconsolate with the news about your health. I do hope for your fast recovery. I'll try searching for your CD's at the local music shop. You won't remember me, but at the end of last year I was in Europe for business and, having seen you perform many times in New York, decided to stop by Utrecht before returning to the United States to attend your festival. I ran into you briefly during breakfast at the Grand Karel on the first morning (sorry to bother you during that, by the way) and we also spoke very briefly at the conclusion of the festival. The festival was such a hauntingly beautiful experience - following the lanterns around Utrecht during the Kerkenmarathon, the river towards the Vredenburg Leeuwenbergh, then always spiraling my way around the tunnels of the Grand Karel trying to find my way back to my room (thank God for that interactive map in the lobby). Congratulations for it and thank you. I was very sorry to see your message on the 20th and I wish you all the best in your recovery. I will keep an eye out for the next time you venture across the Atlantic to perform in New York, and in the meantime I hope you take some time to relax in the Grand Karel and that you have more luck finding your way around it than I did.
